The international collaboration of several researchers has materialized by identifying four genes whose mutations affect the pathophysiology of breast cancer, announces the publications "Nature" and "Nature Genetics". The results of this discovery were obtained by comparing the genome structure in the case of 4,400 women with breast cancer with the characteristics identified in the case of 4,300 women who did not suffer from this condition. Thus, 30 genetic characteristics that may be related to this disease have been highlighted.
The researchers estimate that the new discovery will soon begin the development of a new diagnostic mode, thus calculating a woman's statistical predisposition to develop or not breast cancer or other forms of cancer. It will also be possible to diagnose the disease in an early stage.
