According to specialists, the consumption of eggs from chickens fed artificially, under adverse conditions, causes severe hormonal disorders, which can lead to early puberty in children. The color of the eggshell does not influence its nutritional quality. The color difference is given only by the breed of hens from which it comes.

Beyond checking the shelf life of each egg or formwork, the freshness of the eggs is best verified by the water test - if they remain at the bottom of the water when they are put in a glass, they are fresh, if they rise to the surface, they are old.

But when you are in the store, and this test cannot be done quickly, you can check its freshness by shaking it. When the content moves while shaking the egg, it means that it has already aged. When you are at home, you can easily see if the egg is fresh depending on the consistency of the contents, after its breaking - the aqueous white is a sign that the food is outdated.

At what tables do you introduce it?

The egg can be introduced in the baby's menu in the morning or lunch tables, but not in the evening, because it digests harder than other foods and overloads the liver.

According to pediatrician Rodica Nanu, from the "Batistei" Policlinica in Bucharest, up to the age of 1 year, it is not advisable to give the child more than 3 eggs (yellows) per week, and after this age, the weekly portion will increase to maximum 4 whole eggs. After the age of 5, the child will be able to consume a maximum of 5 eggs, weekly, but taking into account the content of eggs from other preparations offered to the little one, not just their own consumption.

How do you prepare and serve it?

Raw eggs are contraindicated for the baby, because of the increased risk of infection with Salmonella, a bacterium commonly found in them. They should be served boiled to the baby, as it is the only way in which food keeps all its nutrients and does not affect the health of the child.

According to the doctor, fried eggs lose much of the essential nutrients, but they are also dangerous to health, as they contain high amounts of unhealthy fats, which increase cholesterol and predispose to cardiovascular diseases. But even when you cook them, you have to keep in mind a few rules. Although most parents give the baby hard boiled eggs, the doctor argues that the best for the baby are the softest (but not the most).

The more eggs are cooked, the harder they are to digest by the sensitive stomach of the child, and the nutrients are absorbed harder in the body, says the pediatrician. If you want to make them mesh or omelette, opt for cooking them in dishes that do not require oil or by the Benedict method, which does not involve frying.

Egg is a versatile food, which is part of the many preparations you cook for the child, especially after the age of 1 year. Until then, it is advisable to introduce the egg in combination with vegetables, dairy and cereals in baby recipes.
