Conference: Ocean Giants
February 08, 2014, 11.00 am
Presented by: George Nazareanu
Over time, due to stories heard from sailors or fairy tales and beliefs, people's thinking about animals existing in the depths of the oceans (whether real or fictional), has been shaped continuously. These animals are perceived as true monsters, mainly due to their physical appearance.

Sea Devils, sawfish, sword and hammer, fish with a mouth of 1.5 meters long, huge aquatic snakes 10 meters long, sharks 15 meters long, huge whales or rooster and so on; all these giants of the oceans have their own story, which is worth hearing!
In the conference "Giants of the Oceans", you will have the opportunity to enter their world, in the depths of the oceans, to get to know all these animals, apparently terrifying; and to find out their true story, morphologically, anatomically, biologically and ecologically; after which, you can analyze them "live" in the permanent exhibition of the Antipa Museum.
The conference will take place in the Multimedia Hall of the Museum. The public access to the hall is made between 10:45 and 11:00, based on the ticket for visiting the Museum.
The conference is part of the cycle of articles and conferences within the project "History of the living world in 10 exhibits".
