Many children are afraid of darkness. We do not think too often about this, but it seems strange to the children that suddenly the known objects disappear with the light and make room for unfriendly shadows.
During the day, children are always busy with the game or with other activities that keep them concerned and in which their fantasy finds direct ways of expression. But during the night, in the dark, the real world disappears, and its place is taken by a world where everything is possible.
The fear of darkness is a signal that the little boy has accumulated above normal restlessness, uncertainty, worry and stress. Causes can be family events, such as parental illness, the death of a relative, divorce, alcoholism, conflict or abuse, but also those from outside, such as aggressive films or the situation in the community.
Frustrated by anxieties and worries, the child will populate this world with images that awaken his feelings from his soul. The child can be helped to overcome this fear by sending positive messages, assuring him of love, despite the fact that he is not able to fully thank you and convince him that he has all the support to overcome the difficult times he is facing, no matter how serious the situation is.
Do not stress your anxiety by raising the tone or threats. Show them that you can help them understand their feelings better and overcome alone or with the fear of darkness.
